    Oakmoss

Oak moss is used extensively in perfumery. It is often an important ingredient in fougere, chypre or "moss" perfumes. Oakmoss blends well with many groups of perfume ingredients and is therefore commonly used in all types of perfumes, although often in small quantities.

The earthy, leathery smell of oakmoss lends a certain conciseness to almost any perfume. One of the most fundamental of all oakmoss products - if not the most fundamental - is oakmoss absolute. It is generally made by alcohol extraction.
